Sleep is arguably one of the most important activities a person can commit to when it comes to looking after their health. IT is associated with a number of vital bodily functions such as regulating moods, managing memory and of course, feeling refreshed on a day to day basis. Not all beds are going to give you that great night’s sleep that you deserve, having the wrong mattress instead of a comfortable, supportive one, can actually do more harm than good. So if you aren’t sleeping on a comfortable mattress tonight, you could be contributing to the following health issues.

The Onset of Allergies

A good quality bed should be able to fight off infestations of dust-mites and other unwanted contaminants that may cause allergies in whoever is sleeping in the bed. Skin irritations, headaches and respiratory disorders are common side-effects of a poor mattress, since they tend to attract dust and therefore mites in greater concentrations than quality ones.

Unsupported Back and Neck

Back and neck ache may not sound like too severe a condition for those who don’t suffer from it, but if severe enough it can seriously impact the quality of your daily life. We spend a remarkable amount of time sitting and so your mattress should be able to offer the support needed to counter that.

If your bed isn’t giving you adequate support, you will likely wake up each day with a bit of pain. If it isn’t severe it will likely go away as you go about your day, but if the mattress in in bad enough shape, it could linger for weeks, months, even years.

Counting Too Many Sheep

The main problem with a bad mattress is that you may have difficulty falling asleep on one. This goes much deeper than being tired the next day. A lack of sleep means you’ll have trouble regulating your moods, managing stress and even maintaining your memory. Be sure to get enough of it by avoiding bad mattresses altogether.
